Fluval 306 Canister Priming

well I finally got my tank filled this morning. The next thing was getting the Fluval 306 Canister filter going. The instructions say to use the automatic primer and pump up and down 4-5 time. Did that for a total of 15 minutes with stops in between. Still nothing, it wouldn't run. Finally decided to prime why it was running after about 10 pumps it started working. Must say even with those problems its a **** quiet filter.

I have the Fluval 306 on my 46 gallon. It's been very dependable ... and quiet!

did you have any problem priming it to ge it to start? Or did you have to do as I did and prime it while plug in?

What I do with my canisters whether they have a priming button, self prime, or like the old Magnum 350's where you have to prime them is fill the canister up with water. With the models that have a primer button it does take as many pumps on the primer.

Did you have the Aquastop valve all the way down? I really don't have many problems. Usually, when I reconnect it after cleaning, I pump once and you can hear the water rushing in. The only bad thing about it is I then have to top off my tank as it drains so much water into the canister!

I once couldn't get it started for the life of me .. I was getting so frustrated. I read up online and sweated back and forth dumping it in the sink and then reattaching it. Then I realized I was actually plugging in my heater instead of my canister. LOL
