Fluctuating Temperatures

I just received my panda corys. I hope they'll be ok in the bag for a little while longer as my water temperatures are fluctuating.

Earlier my tank was at 80 degrees. I used a fan to get the temperature down and it ended up at 74 degrees. I turned the fan off.
Now I looked and the temperature is at 72 which I know is cutting it a bit close.
So I am going to heat the tank so that its at 75.

Is that a good idea? I'm a bit afraid that if I heat the tank and the fan is off, the water will become too warm again.

How should I handle this for now?

72 should be fine fore panda Cory's. Most heaters fluctuate a bit between the on and off temperature and also I find despite what the heaters claim about the thermostats the room temperature impacts the tank temperature. As long as the heater is appropriate for the size of the tank these fluctuations don't bother the fish. If a heater is too powerful for the tank size it will warm up too quickly for the fish to acclimatise to the changes.
Remember to float the bag of fish in the tank for at least 20 mins before opening it and starting to acclimatise the fish. This matches the temperature so the fish don't get shock.

Is it an adjustable heater? If not it sounds like an uphill battle. 75 should be prefect if you can manage that. As for the fish, if you're worried you could try drip acclimation with a bucket as opposed to floating the bag. May be a bit less stressful and they won't be stuck in the bag.

They're all in the tank now! They're all very active. I couldn't find one for a while but he's hiding in a place where it's almost impossible for me to see him. Looks like they can stay still for a very long time? I keep thinking they're dead when they do that.....my heart races every time.

And it looks like the temperature is just right now. I'm using an adjustable heater. Thanks!

I hope everything goes well for you. Don't worry if the fish act oddly for the first couple of days, they need to settle in their new environment. Have you cycled the tank or are you going to do a fish in cycle?.

Thank you so much! Now they're all active and swimming around.

Tank is fully cycled.
