Flow Rate for Betta Setup

Hey Everyone,

I recently picked up an Innovative Marine Encore, which is basically two of their ten gallon tanks stuck together.

I wanted to setup something that would showcase freshwater and saltwater for anyone who comes over to try to get others into the hobby as well.

I would love to get a Betta for the freshwater side but I wanted to check on the flow rate before building towards that. The tank comes with a 93 GPH pump with a directional nozzle to help direct the flow. If this is too much I could also put some holes in the return tube to reduce the flow but I would rather keep things as stock as possible.

Thanks!

You could get away with a little bit more flow with a female, but they both like next to nothing. Like a airstone nothing.

So, some questions. Which side gph do u mean? For example, r u saying 93 gph for both sides? And is each tank/cube 10 gallons? Is the two tanks separated by glass? If you are talking about 93 gph for one side the flow will be perfect! Not too high, not too low.

The stock pump for each side is 93 gph. I have an upgraded pump for the saltwater side. The two tanks are separated by a solid piece of glass that runs all the way through the filtration area so it is two separate systems completely. I ordered an AI Prime Freshwater and AI Prime Reef so both sides will have plenty of great lighting and I can easily acclimate the newest inhabitants.

Each tank is 10 gallons giving me a total water volume of 20 gallons. I know Bettas like filtered and good quality water so I would like to try to keep it to as close to 10x the volume per hour being cycled through the filtration.

I think the flow will be just right! Just have live plants.
