40 Gallon Tank Flourite Sand and Cory's?

RedOnion

A lot of the questions and reviews on it say their corys love the sand just fine and it hasnt affected them at all.

I really don't like Flourite. No matter how much you rinse it, it's always dusty. I ended up capping it with blasting sand.

Hi Candace,
As you showed Amazon.co.uk. I am assuming you are in the UK.

I have been looking for black sand to show off my Rainbowfish. They display better over dark substrate.
After ages, I found some that is IMO good if you require a reasonable quantity at a reasonable price.

I have found some smooth black sand - fine, medium and course on the web. It is called "sand-beach 49 black".
I am about to order in bulk - probably a mixed palette. I am over-ordering and will have plenty to spare. If you are anywhere near Greater Manchester maybe I could help. You could have any of my excess at cost. I am also awaiting an order of small rounded expanded - clay balls for below the sand. I have planted display tanks. For the main I use EI dosing and root tabs for the inert substrate. For the smaller one I use sand and expanded clay balls.

Depending on how much you want here are the links
Aquarium Sand - Specialist Aggregates Ltd
They will send out free samples and seem very helpful. Phone no on website.

Their sister site is
https://specialistsubstrates.com/product_info.php but I noticed something saying "for wholesale only" It seems that they want to sell smaller bags to suppliers in the trade, so I guess big mark up, you may find some info there.

Expanded Clay balls
Supalite Black Medium Grade Bonsai Soil Growing Media

I hope that is of help.
