my tank's light fixture has only room for one bulb...i have two swords a java fern and some anarchis....i bought a flora sun bulb from zoo med...will this be enough for my plants to grow ok? and i was thinking of exchanging it for the ultra sun bulb, since flora sun, give too much of a pink glow...any one have experience with the ultra sun bulb...i'm not too much into any yellow glow in the tank...but what else is out there that looks nice and will work with my fixture?

most standard energy saving bulbs just have a pure white glow and on gumtree and sometimes on ebay you can get ones specialised for aquariums too

Here's a chart that may help you determine how much light you have.....

i exchanged flora sun for tropical sun, but now i get a greenish/yelloish hue.....is there any bulbs that are bluish or straight white?

the closer to a 6500K rating the whiter you will get when you get up towards 10k then it will start to turn blue.

From the sounds of a greenish yellow it sounds like a 4500-5000k bulb to me.

i just took that one back too....i kept the old one i have with has a white light to it....when i bought it it came with the tank, so i have no idea what its kelvim rating is....it use to have a purpleish tinge to it..no its just a white glow.
