Floating poop?

louiebetta

Odd question, I know... I got my first black moor today and he’s doing great, settling in well and scavenging at the bottom for food.
My only concern is that he pooped for the first time a minute ago and instead of sinking, it’s a floater (couldn’t help myself)

anyone know if this is normal? I’ve never seen floating fish poop before.
He’s come straight from my LPS so I have no idea what they’ve been feeding him but I’m assuming flakes. He’s on sinking pellets now but I’ve only fed him once today.
Any ideas?

Not exactly normal, but not uncommon either. He probably swallowed a lot of air with his food, from flakes or floating food. Give it a few days.

I agree, I'll just add that if it continues just make sure his food is soaked in water before feeding to ensure less air in his digestive, and monitor him to make sure he's not been gulping at the surface.
