okay, so currently im doing a fishless cycle for my 5.5 gallon tank. I decided to follow christine Ha’s tutorial on youtube for this since the video, imo, gave the best explanation for me to understand cycling since this is my first time cycling a tank. Now im currently on day 9 of my cycle and so far, i havent seen much. I started with 3.0ppm the first time i tested my water, which i know is a little under the average range you want to be. Ive been testing every two days and the only change ive seen is that now ive dropped to 2.0ppm. Also, i add about 10ML of bacteria daily but today i decided to add 15ML bacteria. The brand im using is API quick start nitrifying bacteria. I know cycling takes time, but is this normal...? Ive been so nervous about doing this correctly. I may just be acting impatient, but i wanna hear your guys thoughts.

What are the numbers for ammonia, nitrite and nitrate? If the ammonia has dropped you should see the nitrite rising.

Ammonia is 2.0ppm, nitrite is 0ppm, and nitrates is 0ppm

I would just keep doing what you're doing. I haven't used the API bacteria before but I have cycled a tank using tetra safe start and it cycled in a couple of weeks.

Okay, thanks! I just thought it was super weird that my ammonia is going down yet i havent seen any nitrites nor have any nitrates. I think i might test daily and see if i can “catch” a glimpse of some nitrites...as silly as that sounds.
