What is your worst fish keeping night?
Mine is that I'll wake up one morning and find that my cat has eaten all my fish,
or that they will die all of a sudden.Whats yours?

I think all of our nightmares is about the same, wake up one morning to find all the fish dead! Almost happened to me on my betta tank, heater got stuck on. Woke up the next morning to find the tank around 90F, good thing I had the air pump cranked!

I used to think my worst nightmare would be to lose my cat. He passed away two weeks ago and I'm heartbroken. Now? Probably to wake up and find all my fish dead. I have three tanks.

I think my worst nightmare was when I got an ICH outbreak in my tank!
Ohhh that was bad, I had gotten a small school of Black Neons and introduced them to my 60 gallon tank. 1 week later all of the sudden The Black Neons had ICH and were starting to infect all my other fish. It wiped out All My fish One by one! I only got to save a few fish but it was a disaster.

I actually dream that I somehow forgot to turn back on the filters/power heads/air pumps after feeding. In my dreams I don't notice the lack of water movement until all my fish start dying in graphically horrific fashion.

Any time I have this nightmare (several times a month, at the very least!) I wake up in a cold sweat, tell myself it's just a dream, AND always end up getting out of bed, trudging down the stairs and checking the filters/power heads/air pumps.

I've never discovered them to be off.

Yet....

Dead fish would be sad, but for it to be a true nightmare my fish would just suddenly dissapear. All of them and the snails gone. Dead at least I can figure out what happened, missing completely would be worse. Way worse.

My worst fear is setting up a brand new tank only to have a hurricane come bursting through the door (AHEM, HARVEY!)

Nightmare: accidentally inhaling aquarium water from a siphon again, except this time it's full of detritus worms.

My tank leaking over night, I've had one leak over night, so I dread it.
Or my tank busting a crack.

My worst nightmare would be if my platy died from stress due to being moved to the fry tank to give birth (hopefully I can put her back late tonight!)

Being completely broke and not being able to buy meds for ur fish (actually that’s happening right now ) so a few days later every single one of my fish dies unexpectedly

Ooh, lol... perfect timing for this thread. Seriously. Night before last, I had a dream that when I cut my tank lights on after waking up, that they immediately caught fire, the cords too, in flames in a matter of seconds, which being against the glass, caused the tank to bust and shatter... didn't enjoy turning the lights on when I actually did wake up lol

Killing any of my fish again, especially in transit. The thought of unwrapping the fish bag and seeing a dead little dude terrifies me.

Or when ur fish does one thing weird thing like staying at bottom for a while after water change and ur scared it’s gonna die. Ya terrified of killing them, especially if I don’t notice till a few days after, it’s happened before and I wanted to just give up it was awful

Lol... yeaaa... except that we live in an old house (just moved in, restoration project - that was supposed to be minor), & just recently discovered we have old knob & tube wiring (gonna HAVE to get the house re-wired... yaaayyyy! (Sarcasm, btw lol)) aaannnnddd... drum roll.... there's been a fire at some point (discovered when we opened a wall to investigate some odd things) sooo.... no more new tanks until after the re-wire talk about depressing!!

Edit: some of our electrical outlets could seriously (no sarcasm here) be put in a museum

Baahahaaa California L33 yep.. that's a good one!

Lol Goldfishgirlgirl, yea... no more Aquaclear for me... woke up to a cracking sound on mine... lol.. sure you can guess what it was

Alright well to begin I'm sitting on the couch watching TV when out of nowhere I start hearing water splashing.. instantly my heart sank as I look to my left and see water flowing out of the right side of my 50gal cichlid setup. My first thought was oh my god... The tank just shattered, I run over and take a quick glance and grabbed the front and back of the tank and pined it shut, luckily it didn't shatter but the seems gave way on both sides and I just so happened be fast enough to close the seal long enough for my fiance to empty the rest of the water out and capture the fish..

This was bad but it could of been a **** of a lot worse, what if I was in the bathroom or nobody was home, I would have lost every single fish and probably would have started an electrical fire...

I share this to make my fellow fish keepers more aware of over stressed seals that can cause your aquarium to literally collapse and give way. Check your tanks everyone make sure everything is stable and you don't have moisture in the edges.

Sorry that happened but glad you were there.

Good reminder ................ check your tanks occasionally.

Shame. We have a guy here whose 300g tank shattered. He’s been rebuilding it with a 330g he’s been updating his “adventure”.

Good idea to make sure you check the tanks for any moisture.

No clue but it was my grandparents at one point and it was re-sealed which I didn't know until further inspection afterwards, just got the new 55 gallon setup last night, I used everything from the broken tank substrate rocks deco and media along with the water that was left. Treated the aquarium and I'm adding the fish as we speak

So you used aquarium seal to fix a crack or something? And after time it gave way?
