Fish Tb Tank Sanitisation

my first ever fish I bought have tb. unfortunate. great way to start off aye. so now I'm left with an aquaone 980 that needs some serious bacteria genocide before it gets set back up.
I have read that bleach only won't save my bacon but rubbing alcohol/isopropyl alcohol and then bleach will give that tb the one-two combo. first having the alcohol deteriorate the cell wall, finally with the bleach obliterating everything after that.
I would just like to get an idea of how thorough I'm going to have to be. like am I going to have to sit there for an hour getting bleach and alcohol into every tiny nook and cranny, or is it more of a wipe major surfaces and you're good. also what's the deal with the hood? cause the 980 has a hood which gathered a lot of condensation. will I have to sanitise that too?

also, its been empty for 2-3 weeks. so all surfaces are currently dry. how long can tb survive out of water for? I know it has a lipid membrane (which is why you can't treat it) which stops the cell from drying out... so how long and how paranoid should I be about cleanliness before I set it back up?

I'm sorry you've had these issues!

Can I ask how you knew it was TB? There are quite a few issues with similar symptoms.

I made a previous thread a while back and most people if not all said it was tb.
have had at least 10 fish die over the past couple of months with symptoms of bent spines, lack of apetite and then starving, sitting on the bottom of tank, no lesions but everyone seems convinced. I decided it would be best to start fresh with fish that werent coming from a petco-esqe environment.ive also already treated for internal parasites and to no prevail so I'm just going to nuke everything and start fresh.

M. marinum is ubiquitous so it's not something you can wipe out. Even if you managed to do so it would be re-introduced with any new fish.

Ubiquitous is the wrong word, definitely wide spread.
This is from memory because I don't have time to chase down the study....Swedish study of 100+ "healthy" aquariums found 6 "Mycobacterium" in 75% of them. There was 12 different strains found, marinum was the most prevalent but far from ubiquitous. It was awhile ago that I read it but searching NIH should find you the study.

There are 3,670 papers in Google Scholar that describe M. marinum as ubiquitous.

So after reading 5 pages of link from Google scholar that say ubiquitous, all citing the same European journal article 2006 B. Petrini. Except one that called it prevalent worldwide.

Now go pull articles stating how ICH is ubiquitous or omnipotent.

ok well the point is its a common bacteria, none the less there are different strains which are more hostile than others. id rather not have a hostile strain of tb in my tank because I would really rather not have expensive fish going anorexic on my and then dying.
yes, I will probably encounter tb again when introducing fish into the cleaned tank but with some luck it won't try and take out all my stock. so, cleaning methods/tips for sterilising a tank would be much appreciated

10 % chlorine solution and make sure you scrub all surfaces well, since it primarily resides within the biofilm. Porous items should be trashed as there is no way to fully guarantee the bacteria won't survive.
UV lights may prevent spreading of the disease from one fish to another, but the disease is extremely slow grower and can take up to 2 years to show signs.

huh well what do you know. is there a recommended contact time? and all the biofilms have dried out so will that require more effort to clean?
