Fish tank cycling need help please!!!!

10 gallon tank, everything else is fine except ammonia.

Have you tested your water source for ammonia?

10 is pretty tight for a BN. Plecos are waste factories. That might be one issue.

I agree with Adam that the BN might have an impact.

You could as some suggest try to kick in the cycle with products, but you are already so long in.

If the pH is too low, you will have a lot of difficulty cycling.

Did your ammonia level go down after the water change?

It is possible that the cycle is stalled, which is why you would only have ammonia readings...the ammonia was never processed by the bacteria to create nitrites or nitrates.

If the ammonia is that high, it is bad for the fish.

I would:
1. Test pH, if under 6.5 ish, it will stall the cycling process.
2. If pH is over #1, get Tetra SafeStart, which is beneficial bacteria (BB) in a bottle.
3. Do a large water change.
4. Wait 24 hrs.
5. Add Tetra SafeStart.
6. No water changes for 2 weeks.
7. Test water to verify cycled.
