Fish tank at work?

I'm thinking about a small fish tank for work, with a beta, or something..
Do you have a tank at work? If so, what do you have and what does it house? How often do you have to do maintenance? What do you do for feeding on the weekends?
I'd like to see pictures too if you got 'em!

I don't have one set up at work yet, but I'm planning on doing something smallish but still pretty. Though it's pricey, I recommend the Fluval Spec III (I have the Fluval Spec V and I love it, though it's too big for my office). It's sleek in design and still professional-looking.

You COULD house a betta in the tank, though my personal preference is that bettas need 5G+ tanks, though many will agree that a 2.5 will be okay. You just have to watch water parameters. The other option, which is what I'm going to eventually do in my office, is housing a shrimp colony! They're pretty much self sustainable. They'll eat the algae off their surroundings and you just have to supplement their diet every once in awhile with a small piece of algae wafer, but you really don't have to do anything else (except water changes, obviously). I like this option because on weekends when no one is in the office, or if we're closed on a Holiday week or something, the shrimp will be fine.

This site was a DREAM when it came to modifying my Fluval Spec for my shrimp and betta. It shows you easy ways to hide a heater, modifying the intake and outake so that the shrimp and betta don't get caught... anyway! I digress. Take a look if you decide to get a Fluval Spec. I highly recommend them.

I'd also recommend a Fluval spec, either the 2.6 or 3 gal with a colony of shrimp. A betta would be fine in a 3gal just give him lots of plants and driftwood.

If you look up Pecktec on Youtube he has unboxing videos of all of the Fluval specs, he owns a lot of them and has one at work too. His video on sunday was a full tank update which showcases his specs and they could be good inspiration for scaping your own.

Both fish and shrimp would be fine over a weekend without food and in an established tank shrimp don't need fed at all really but its good to supplement them.

Good to know!! Now I just have to find out if my boss will let me have one

Another point to add, with cherry shrimp or their variations you won't need a heater as long as your office doesn't drop below 60f, so you will only need to take up 2 outlets with a spec.
I run between 6-8 tanks (7 currently) so I know how valuable outlets can be lol.
