So, all that started this MTS (Multiple tank syndrome) were 3 goldfish. Two died within the first two weeks. We kept our remaining goldfish in a 1 gallon fish bowl.
A few months later, we got a 10 gallon aquarium setup from our friend. It included 3 Glofish and 1 pleco. We did water changes 1x a month and the temp usually ran down to 60 F. (I know, we did not know much about fish keeping.)
A month or so later, we bought 3 more Glofish and 4 neon tetras for the tank.
We also had made a pond for our goldfish and gave her 3 more friends. Our Glofish, tetras, and pleco remained in this condition for a long time. The goldfish kept dying until we found out to get a filter and do water changes in the pond.
We also went to a friends house and got 3 guppies. They kept having babies that kept dying. We figured they were inbred.
I also went to a friends house that had a betta in a 1 gallon. I bought a betta and had him in the one gallon I had.
He lived in there for a few months until I got him a 20 gallon. I cycled it for not even 24 hours. After I "cycled" it, I put 2 guppies, my betta, the pleco, and 5 neon tetras in there. A couple days later, my betta was not active, two guppies died, and 4 out of 5 neon tetras died. I learned my lesson.
I removed the remaining tetra and my betta (The pleco stayed in), and cycled the tank for two weeks. When cycling was done, I got 3 platies, 12? neon tetras, 6 harlequin rasboras, 1 male betta and 2 female bettas.
Since then, we have gotten several more fish, and included a ten gallon. I will keep you all updated on my fish keeping.
Farewell until next time!
