Fish in Cycling with api quickstart

I am doing a fish In cycle in a 5.5 gallon with api quickstart. I followed the procedures with dechlorinator so it didn’t kill the bacteria. There are 5 endlers in the tank. I started the tank a week and a half ago, and there is still .5 ammonia with no nitrites or nitrates. When I cycled my 20 gallon with Tetra SafeStart Plus, it only took a week. Is Quickstart just not good at cycling a new aquarium?

 

quickstart worked for me the one time i used it just make sure you have enough ammonia to feed the bacteria

 

Quickstart worked for me. Have you been dosing every day? If you have another established tank that is cycled you can try using some media from the filter, as long as the temperature difference isn't too much(try to stay within a 1-2 degree difference).

It has been at .5 ppm

Are you supposed to dose with quickstart every day? I didn’t know if it was like safestart where you put the proper amount in once and that’s all you do.

i would dose everyday. For safestart people say to dose the whole bottle, but for quickstart(and safesart tbh) I would dose everyday. If you don't have enough product, you can just split the dose. If the ammonia and nitrite are disappearing, you can dose a little to help, but once its converted to nitrates in a 12 hour time period you don't need to dose.
