Fish ID and Gender

My first day here, been around for quite some time reading threads that a lot of you helpful people have made but never actually made a post myself.

My new addition to a 80g tank, sold as a Texas Cichlid looks a lot like a Carpintis rather than a Cyano to me.
Also, if someone could tell me the gender of the fish, LFS said Male but yeah...

HI Tastymints well i've looked and I would say Herichthys carpinits and regarding ID this link may help but I would say females :)

The common name Green Texas is often used for Herichthys carpintis, so yeah, they are sometimes sold as Texas Cichlids. I would say they are both males, no black markings in the dorsal and the abdominal profile appears relatively flat. Fins will grow out.
