Fish for 75 gallon freshwater tank

Hi, I am new to fish keeping and would like some advice on what fish to add to my tank. I don't want it to get too crowded. I have a 75 gallon freshwater tank with an Eheim pro 3 2075 filter. I currently have 3 apple snails, 1 moonlight gourami, 1 gold gourami, 4 silver dollars, and 2 pictus catfish, all are about 2.5 inches right now. I am wondering if I have room for more fish? I would like to get 2 Discus and maybe a few green tiger barbs. Would this be too many fish? Any advice is much appreciated! Thanks!

I wouldn't mix discus with anything as they have very serious requirements that have to be met. I'd also try and stay away from tiger barbs with your gourami as they like to nip on the gouramis feelers. I'd also up the schools of the pI'm cats and silver dollars up 6. I'd imagine you could add a few more fish to your list, just depends on what you're interested in

Discus wouldn't work, they are social and should be in a group of 6+.
And yes, silver dollars and pictus need a group of 6+.
With tiger barbs, a "few" won't cut it because they are nippy, even in groups of 6. 10-15 is far better.

If you wanted to keep "barbs", I just leaned this morning that cherry barbs are much more peaceful in a community setting.

They may be small, but that also means they could get eaten by pictus

Gold barbs (my avatar) are peaceful as well - they should be in a school of at least 6.

They can be peaceful, my gold barbs are quite aggresive and killed a cory for no apparent reason a while ago.

I'm sorry to hear that Plecomaker. I haven't noticed any aggression - I have 7 gold barbs and 9 peppered cories in a 55gal, plus 23 more fish.

I'll keep watching them.

Yeah, from what. Ive heardits rare, but I do know one other person who had them mess up a gourami.
Dont get me wrong, in some ways the barb family are great! Hardy and more colorful then tetras with a willingness to eat anything and take a variety of parameters, but if you look long enough almost any barb has caused an aggression issue for someone.

If it's rare, then imo it's not really anything to worry about.
Tiger barbs are the main barb that has a bad rep, but if it's in a group of 15 or more it won't be as nippy. But still don't put it with long finned fish. According to SF, gold barbs are better in a group of 8-10 or more.

That's extended, and far fetched, imo. Red tails and rainbows hate their own species, but barbs are schooling fish.

Tech they are barbs, but whatever.

They are in the same family, but that does not mean they are barbs. Danios, rasboras, barbs, and these Freshwater sharks are in the same family. You surely don't think that rasboras are barbs?

Never said that. I would says sharks have a lot more incommon with community barbs and that no barb is really non agressive. Heck ive seen cherry barbs attack small cichlids. Aint no suvh thing as a peaceful barb.

They are peaceful when kept in a proper group of 6+, or 8+, or 15+ or whatever that certain species requires. Roseline sharks/denison barbs are barbs, I've never heard of them being aggressive.....
