Fish Feeder?

I have one Betta fish in the Marineland Hex 5 gallon aquarium, and go away about every two weeks for 5 days. I've searched around on PetSmart, Petco and Amazon, and am wondering what you think is the best automatic aquarium feeder? I feed pellets one day, flakes the next.

Rena makes a good feeder. I plan on getting one for my breeding tank once they spawn again.

I've also read good reviews on the ones petsmart sells.

I don't think my tank will permit one of the automatic fish feeders, as there's no room for the feeder to go, really.

Anybody have any experience with feeder blocks like this one?

Some manufacturers have pretty small feeder units. I'll try and get a link for ya.

you don't need a feeder. Just keep some ghost shrimp in the tank so there's something to snack on in the meantime. 5 days is not a long time for fish to go without eating.

I have a perfect solution for you.

Go out and buy some Ghost shrimp (Very cheap locally - as I recall, they are $.33). Why I say to do this is because once the fish gets hungry, he'll eventually eat a shrimp and eat them over the time you are gone. This process has worked effectively for me every time. I know, it may seem cruel, but you gotta do what you gotta do - the shrimp are cheap and easy to replace.

Go ahead and use one of those. Take it out and do a water change when you get back home.

I like the shrimp idea too. Probably better.

haha I beat you to it!

I'd get the shrimp from a local fish store where they will be 5-10 for a dollar.

Darn it! Lol.

Not many know of this technique, great minds think alike

I just let my fish go hungry when I go away, but I don't constantly go away.

A Betta can go quite a few days without food.

Yes they can. From my experience, up to 2 weeks (Though I don't recommend waiting 2 weeks before you feed your betta )
