Here is what’s happening. My 40G breeder had 16 red eye tetras, 1 clown pleco, 1 kribensis and 3 mystery snails. It also has some amazon swords, water sprite and Wisteria, and an annubias. It has been running for 3 months, fully cycled and fish doing great. On Sunday I went and purchased 6 sharksin barbs and 2 Siamese Algae eaters. This is what happened.
Monday am- 1 dead sharkskin
Tuesday am- 1 dead sharkskin & 1 dead SAE
Wednesday(today)- kribensis died.

PH- 7.0
Nitrite- 0 ppm
Nitrates- 0 ppm
Ammonia- 0ppm
All of the fish have no visable signs of any ailments what so ever and are actively swimming and eating during the day. They look completely fine.
With all the fish, they were alive and well when I turned off the lights, and not so much when I turned them back on. I am really confused

Did you quarantine them?
No. I did not unfortunately. I don’t have a quarantine tank. What I don’t understand is why they seem to die so suddenly. I have never had this problem before. Don’t fish usually show some kind of signs that they are sick before they die? Or is there something that could kill them as quickly as I am seeing it?

Maybe it has something to do with the way you acclimated them? Or they could have been sick from the store. I think for bigger tanks is wiser to quarantine new fish than adding them right away.

I'm sorry for your fish loss and hope you figure this out quickly. Are you sure that you have Siamese Algae eaters? Sometimes people think that's what they have, but they are really Chinese Algae eaters that will kill other fish!

Quarantining is important!, and most people find that out the hard way. I would say they were sick/old when you got them. Or they may have a form of ph shock, or temp changes that killed them.

Yes. They are SAE and they are tiny. Very very small . I am thinking that maybe The oxygen is getting depleted overnight so I am going to try an airstone tonight. Hopefully that is whats going on. It is not heavily planted but I do have a good portion of the surface covered with some water sprite.
