Fish died in shipping... Angry, must vent!

Ordered fish on 14th, shipped 19th (per seller though first tracking update on 23rd), “out for delivery” yesterday, didn’t show up, and today they wouldn’t deliver the package on to my covered porch due to “weather”, now I get to drive to the post office to pickup my package of dead fish tomorrow. Yay!

Typically the doa agreement doesn't cover shipping delays.

If there are shipping delays usually the seller helps you file a claim with the carrier. See if that's an option.

Also the fish may not be dead. They can go pretty long in the bags Have hope.

I feel your pain. A few weeks ago I had a package that was due on Friday. It made it to Houston, which is less than an hour from me, in a timely manner. When it didn't show up on Friday I checked the tracking number and it had gone from Houston to some little town near Beaumont, which was about 90 miles in the wrong direction. I finally got it on Monday. Fortunately the only animals in the package were snails, and they were all okay.

I'm assuming you're in the u.s., like me. Buy from sellers who use UPS or Fedex. I've ordered things online that are shipped by the USPS, and monitored their route..... horrifying!

. . . THEY LIVE!!!!

now I must say I have a sneaking suspicion the seller was not being honest when they messaged and told me my package shipped yesterday (the 19th). . . Anyway, they all made it, all 11 of the 8 fish I ordered. . . ??? Maybe with all the extra shipping time they multiplied

Crappy pic but it’s all I got.

Sorry..... not laughing at you. the USPS was losing my packages long before Corona virus was invented! If you buy online, and the company uses USPS, you need to copy the 'USPS tracking #' to the USPS site...... it's hilarious. Just because a company prints a label in their office does not mean it's actually been 'mailed'........

Glad they were alive. That’s one of the nice things about ordering online, they usually give you an extra or two in case some don’t make it.

With the post office, "Shipped" doesn't mean "Put in a box and into the network" it means "I've printed a shipping label."

It is a [redacted] scam. See also their "Priority" mail. The USPS doesn't guarantee delivery no matter how much money you pay them. My daughter almost lost a four year full ride scholarship because their "priority" mail wasn't when her application package was in their "priority" envelopes.

If you need it to be somewhere on time, use FedEx or UPS.

I guess that's one way to get rid of some extra guppies....Couple free with every order.

Yeah UPS isn’t much better. Ordered discus a few months back. Following the tracking they were to be delivered between 8am to 10am. So here I am watching the clock and the tracking and nothing shows . Than UPS puts up I declined delivery. No truck showed. So on the phone for an hour before I track the fish down to the local warehouse where they decided not to deliver because the box was wet! No worries to them if they say customer refuse. Luckily when I got there fish were still alive.

2 Inches of snow, they couldn't deliver my fish. UPS isn't much better than any of them IMO

It's almost as bad when they don't bother to let you know the thing you spent money on is on your front porch for the world to see sitting there. I've heard it's not required but HOW HARD is it to knock once or twice. Anyways,
Glad your fish made it, all '8' of them. haha.

Ive had one bad experience ordering online but have had mostly very good luck. The fish I get on line are better than what I get in the LFS. I guess you take a risk with either.

I didn’t take it badly! They kept sending me texts saying it was on a truck en route to my house and then changing the day/ time! When I did the track missing package they actually told me the. Driver “did not remember seeing my package” from weeks before. I was dying laughing . Why would they? Why would that even be an excuse?

I’ve never ordered fish online as I’m always to scared I’ll miss the delivery... Even if my “LFS” is almost an hour away...
Have ordered live plants though, and it sounds as though that’s far less stressful

I’ve ordered fish online once and everything went smoothly. The fish showed up a day early and in perfect health, if not a little cold because it was winter and their heat pack wore off.

I decided to order a new female hmpk breeding betta last night (my original female was non compatible), and I’m rather nervous to be honest.

The fish are coming from Texas and I’m in Northern California so at least they’re not shipping from Indonesia or anything like my previous bettas.

I've bought fish online ONCE, and thankfully it was a good experience; all healthy fish and no DOA. Read somewhere that USPS is probably more reliable than UPS, but I'm not entirely sure. Plants online should be fine though.

Nice! I want to see her in tank

My online fish experience (once) has been very good. It wasn’t usps delivery.

My issue with usps is they subcontracted to dhl whI are known for being bad. My husband’s work won’t use them.
