Ok so i'm very excited, Just ordered a aquarium online so will getting ready for that. It's a 180 litre Juwel Rio, I'm going to use sand substrate with plenty of driftwood and rock in it.
I will be doing a fishless cycle and looking for fish idea's I want to get Neon Tetras and also Corydoras, I have two young kids so I want to have a active tank, I would like a couple of larger fish as well and wondering what would be a good mix. I was thinking Gourami's? I quite like them. and I really like the red tail shark, I know they can be aggressive so wondering if they would play nice with the corys.
sorry this post is all over the place lol i'm excited and have lots of idea's going through my head

Poseidon

PS, ok i've been reading a a red tail wouldn't be ideal because the tank is not big enough, ah well

In your size tank you could probably get away with the school of neons (careful though mine were quite weak but some people have better experiences) A school of corydoras (great tough fish). You could probably add to that a smaller school of zebra danios or some type of minnows (add lots of movement I love danios) And probably 1 gourami. But that's just my opinion some people will say other things. For the red tail shark I haven't had any personal experience but I think it would harass the corydoras a lot so that one is probably a no go.
Good luck !

From what I've heard, the red tail shark is decently aggressive. I would choose a more peaceful and less territorial fish to ensure compatibility between your neons and corys and your bigger fish. Just my two cents, though, I'm sure others have made it work.

We have neons and corys in our 30gal, for the activity and color we have 6 male guppies.

I have a rts and Mine is a good one still territorail to certain fish in my tank. Some it will share space with without issues. My Zebra Danio's drive him nuts though!
your tank is roughly 60G right?
