okay. So I’m hoping I did this right and if there’s anything that doesn’t seem quite right, someone let me know.
I’ve kept marine fish since I was 14 but this is my first freshwater fish. My friend was keeping a betta in the cup she bought it in for a week (the pet store told her it was okay) and when she saw online this wasn’t okay, she asked me if I would take it because she knows I love fish and she didn’t have money for a tank. I’ve had this setup for 4days and the fish has reallllyyyy changed color from like a tan with brown spots to a white and red color.
The pet store wasn’t sure what kind of moss they sold me so I’m not sure either. I asked for java moss and they said this was all they had. I attached it to the driftwood with a rubber band. I also couldn’t get this “assorted plant” they were also unsure of, to stay at the bottom so I also banded it to a rock. The dwarf lettuce seems to be doing well, and the sword plant is sitting in the substrate pretty nicely. I boiled the driftwood before adding it. I’m assuming the random snails in my tank are coming from the moss. I added some cycled water from my dad’s betta fish tank and some cycled substrate. This is only a 5.5 gallon. My dad has a 10 gallon for his, but I’m willing to upgrade if I need to. The light fixture I’m using is this bulb attached to a lamp fixture overhead. It says it’s okay for use in damp locations
Thoughts?
