First build, 10 to 30 upgrade.

I have wanted to get a longer tank for awhile now. The plan had been a 40 breeder, but a free 30 might as well be a 40 lol. My plan is to basically “just put” my 10 into the 30. The tank is filled about 1.5 in deep with aquasoil, no topping layer with valisneria going wild. I plan to fill planting bags with the soil, plant the Val’s in those, then bury them in sand where I want them. I have drift wood with established Java ferns and Bacopa on them just looking for space. Ludwigia grows feral in a vernal pond by my house. Just waiting for it to pop up and I’ll add some of that.

Current stocking is French blue Endlers, peppered Cories, and mystery snails. I have Cories split between 3 tanks for a total of 16-20 (not sure) I would like to add something a bit larger as a centerpiece. Pleco was mentioned and the wife and kiddo like it, but that might be a bit much with that many Cories.

Filtration is going to be whatever it came with, assuming it still works. If not, another Marina slim which may be the end result anyway. Happy with them on the other tanks.

The tank has a corner chip, a lot of calcium build up, but should clean up nice.

Not bad for a first pass with apple cider vinegar. It’s what I had on hand and I had time :) I will get proper vinegar (and more apple cider) next time I go shopping. But for now, not bad.

Decided to keep the lid and upgrade the old light.
General layout. Empty right rear corner is where the Val’s are going. Move the soil, add some sand and some pebbles. Going to secure the anubias (?) to the log and some more Java fern on the wood.

Related work, took the ten gallon down to get the soil out. Temp setup, still settling excuse the dust lol Once these are in the 30, this 10 gallon is going to be moved into the kiddos bedroom to house his betta and Endlers currently in a 5 gallon.

Cleaned, sifted and sorted the substrates. Sand, pebbles from the sand, small pebbles from the old setup and the old aquasoil.

Well, both HOB that came with it make noise. But that’s all. So for now there’s a 15 g pump on there that came from the tank that’s going into here. I’ll get a new filter for this one I guess. Reinforced the stand a bit and filled it up.

Clearing up nicely. Might do a little aquascaping later today, but it’s a really nice day :)
