Firemouths not trying to pair up?

I have had a pair of firemouths for approximately 8 months, in April the female laid eggs on the glass, the male attempted to cover them, all seemed well for 2 days when the eggs disappeared, I assume they ate them, it is now nearly September, they haven’t attempted to lay eggs again, the male just chases the female away, she like to hide to get out of his way although at times she comes out and is not really bothered by him. There has been no interest as a pair again. Please any ideas what might be going on?

Interested in this thread. I have two paratilapia pollenI that laid eggs in April, ate them, and haven't laid again. Mine are still a pair though and go through all the motion, but never spawn. I've tried several different foods and daily big water changes, but can't get any results.

Weird, I’ve bred cichlids quite a few times but never known this behaviour before

I’ve noticed by your profile that you keep the tank at 93 farenheight, I know this fish can take high temperatures but surely 93 is far to high, maybe that’s the problem with your breeding, try turning it down to 83 degrees.

I don't think my profile is accurate. It's at 80.

Aren't cichlids accustomed to 78-82? I have my tank's temp @ 79-80. My boys love it.

That is some really strange behavior.

My temperature has been turned down it went to about 85 due to the recent heatwave, now it’s set at 82, that allows for a temperature drop at night.

Unless they're stressed out, sick or you're feeding them something they don't like, I'm stumped. No other inhabitants in the tank, just the pair, right? No changes in their surroundings?

They could be stressed I suppose, they eat well, I feed them flake and frozen food. The Male firemouth is the dominant one in the tank, the Kribs in the tank had little ones, I Have about 20 of them growing fast, I probably should put them in another tank on their own, my missus will go mad, hobby extension yet again lol
