I have a 10 gallon tank set up with sand, live plants, and rock to hide in. I saw a 1.5 inch firemouth cichlid and fell in love with it. I was wondering If I could keep in in a 10 gallon tank for a week before I move it to a 30 gallon tank. I have read that this can help the fish get used to its owner.

If it's only 1.5" and you have good filtering, you could keep it in a 10 for a few months.

Thanks for your reply. I don't know how fast they grow so I will be prepared to put it in the 30 gallon at any time.

It will take at least 3 months for it to out grow your 10
