So I got a new light for my soon to be 55g African Cichlid tank. I have a finnex planted plus on my 40g planted tank and love it so I thought I'd give finnex another try.

The stingray is more of their intro light with a lower price range. I got a 48" for like 60$ on Amazon. I am highly impressed with the brightness and the quality for the price. And it's like 1/2" thick and like 3-4" wide

So if your looking for a good led and aren't wanting to break the bank, I'd recommend it.

It looks great! Can you grow plants with this one?

I'm not sure. I'm gonna try some hardy low light plants but they probably won't make it due to being a Cichlid tank.

Not sure about the Stingray, but I have the Finnex Planted+ and it works fantastic for plants.

Right, I've heard that. I'm wondering about the stingray :)

The Finnex Stingray is good for plants, it will put most tanks in the low light range. The Finnex Planted Plus is designed to be more in the low to medium light range.

And yes, Finnex makes great lights, I have 3 of them.

I've heard that the Planted Plus is quite bright. I'm trying to decide between the Stingray and the Planted Plus for my 10 gallon. Would the planted plus be too much for a tank that size?

Yea I'd probably go with the Stingray for a 10g.

I really enjoy all the finnex lights. I have four of them on my tanks and I have had zero issues.

How would the stingray sit on top of an Aqueon cover?

So we don't take over Jswin's thread aclark's question has been moved to a thread of it own.
Once we ask our own questions it takes the focus off of the OP should they come back with more questions.

If anyone can help, here is the link to aclark's question:
