HI all! I finally finished my cycle (thanks to help from this forum) a week ago and fed my tank 1ppm ammonia every day til I added the fish. I added 7 cardinal tetras to my 225 litre tank yesterday, just wanted to check and make sure this would maintain my cycle and I added enough fish? I attached a pic of a few of my new babies, they are just exploring the tank at the moment

Tank water:
Ammonia 0ppm
Nitrite 0ppm
Nitrate 10ppm
pH 7.2

Congrats! I don't know if 7 cardinal tetras in a 60 gallon will maintain the cycle as it was, but someone else will certainly give input soon.

Thanks for feedback. I'm okay if the tank won't maintain the 1ppm in 24hours as long as I don't lose my cycle completely. I was planning on adding 5 more cardinal tetras in a week, is that a good idea?

I can get more today or tomorrow though, but don't want to do so without some advice! I was scared about overstocking too quickly, but only thought after I got home that I might not have got enough to maintain cycle...

For that size fish, I think you will be good. You have a larger water volume and it will not soil as quickly as a smaller tank. The bacteria colony should be able to keep up.

Sorry KimberleyG just to confirm are you saying it will be good to add say, 5 extra cardinals today, or do you mean in a week?

I believe you meant it should be okay to add the extra 5 today, so I should be able to go to the LFS soon to pick them up

Edit: haven't had a chance to go yet and still open to advice
