Finally got another betta

well, I decided it was finally time to get over my fear of keeping bettas, and I happened to have an empty planted 10 gallon tank I just moved some endlers out of - so I got this lovely boy.
I've never had a plakat betta but I've been drawn to them for a while, luckily he was the last one in the store today! he's really beautiful, and I'm confident he's gonna have a good life.

You picked a awesome looking betta right there. It’s obvious, he’s going to live a happy life in such a great tank.

thank you friend! i'm really hoping he does well. so far he is exploring and finding new hiding places in the tank (and trying to eat the pond snails that are half his size)

Lovely!!!! It will be interesting to see how he changes, and what colors he ends up with as he matures!

I'm sure he loves his new, big home, too!! :)

I had a lot of bettas a few years ago when i wasn't too great at fish keeping. a lot of them died from diseases that popped out of 'nowhere' (which made sense because my care for them was not great. Tanks were never cycled right, I skipped water changes, didn't feed them good food, other stupid mistakes) and it just made me think bettas were sensitive fish. then I tried again in November and that fish died because of a piece of infected wood in its tank.
basically I was pretty frustrated with bettas but I've decided that I am going to correct all of my past mistakes, and having a planted ten gallon that's been supporting fish for about a month was definitely correcting most of them. plus, i never skip water changes now :)
