fledge : you do know they are for the biggest part carnivorious ???

Chaetostoma are primarily Aufwuchs feeders, not carnivores. Like most Aufwuchs feeders, they will also eat anything they find living in the algae. They do need some wood in their diet, as well.

Are you keeping them and if so is this your own experience???
This is defo no correct for mine one. It's hardly / not feeding on aufwuchs and is only going for Cory-pellets, bloodworm, brineshrimp and other alive / frozen food. The need for wood I dare to argue as well (only some panaque-species).

This is both my experience and the information in the Datz L-number publication from 2004. My fish are not the aff. milesi, though they are Chaets. Planetcatfish gives the aff. milesi as omnivores. I have had other species in the past, all ate algae.

There are many more wood eaters than just the Panaque. However, only that Genus and Panaqolus are listed as obligate wood eaters.

Will there be such an enormous difference between the different species.
Mine seriously doesn't eat wood, nor algae or vegs hahaha.

I had a friend who had an Otocinclus that ate brine shrimp almost exclusively. It was large and fat, and never ate any algae. Sometimes you just get an odd individual.:;alien

Thanks for all the replies. I have this guy and a 2" bristlenose. I have no driftwood currently but may add some. Both my plecos eat basically everything. My tank gets Cory pellets, algae tabs, and bloodworms. They go nuts over all three plus the algae that I let grow on the side of my tank.
