So, I'm at my final stocking list status.

What I'm thinking is:

8-10 Harlequin Rasbora's
8-10 Celestial Pearl Danio's
5-6 Zebra Danio's
5-6 Neon Tetra
6 various Corydoras Catfish
3-4 Oto's
Various shrimp

Will I run into any issues with this? The tank is going to be a heavily planted one.

I would triple the neons, double the ottos and get 10 of the same species of corys. Other than that it looks good. Maybe a pair of pearl gouramis for your centerpiece fish.

Triple the neons and double the otos? Can a 55gallon handle that, Jaysee?

i really like my harlie razzys, and celes pearl danios aka galaxy rasboras.

zebra danios are very active and fast, they could make the rasboras feel a bit insecure with all their motion.

neon tetras and otos need a pretty established tank, like 3-4 months min. i think cardinal tetras are less sensitive and look very pretty also.

corys are great, and shrimp are very cool too which kinds?

have you considered snails? i reallly like nerites

Red Cherry Shrimp and Crystal Red Shrimp for shrimp, Jeri

As for snails, I've considered Nerite Snails, but I keep going back and forth on that. It's a nightmare to get any kind of snail locally.

i have a few ghost shrimp, and i'm going to be getting some other kinds this week, RCS may be on the menu. hehe. they are so cute to watch. nerites are as well. i have a zebra and several tracked nerites. what's nice is that can't reproduce in freshwater. well if you can't find it locally, aquabid has snails and liveaquaria too. you can have them fed-ex'd!

I wouldn't have suggested it if it couldn't You can fit a lot of little fish in a 55. 15 neons isn't that many, nor is 7 ottos. Both fish prefer to be and do far better in large groups.

Holy cow!

Well, I'll definitely keep that in mind - and probably go for it. Thank you!

I have a few zebra's and a few harlie's (Half of my eventual planned maximum stocking) and they school with each other.

Go figure ><
