It is so hard to keep the water stable since my apt is below freezing and my pleco has become a victom of it. he has some pale blotches all over his body and he is alittle red at the edge of his fins. I have treated the water for fungus because of my mollie (which is now quarentened) but I haven't seen a difference.

If you have sick fish the temperature needs to be higher. I never keep my sick fish in less than 80 to 82 degrees as most medicines work at the 82 the best and so I figure 82 is pretty much the magic healing number. If you want to see the finrot clear up the fastest they are now recommending Pimafix to kill the bacteria causing bacterial finrot and Melafix to help regenerate the fin tissue. It takes a LONG time to rebuild the fins as they are so delicate and the webbing is hard to knit in a cell or two at a time.
