This is probably the 3rd or 4th post about this stupid fin rot! I dont know what keeps happening, when I think his tail is finally healing, nope, it somehow gets shredded again. I have my betta in a 5 gallon, the water is heated (78-80 degrees) I dont have a filter so I do 60-90% water changes weekly. I finally thought I had gotten rid of the fin rot and his fins started to heal a bit. This morning I checked his fins, all seems well, when I checked them about an hour ago, his fins were ripped again! I dont have a test kit yet, but plan on getting one soon, I only have a silk plant in there so he cant be ripping them on there. He may be biting his fins, but I dont know why.

Not healing due to water quality. Every fish needs a filter. Ammonia takes about 6 hours to build up. So, you'd have to do 90% every 6 hours or invest in a filter
