Fin nipping between common guppies and fancy guppies?

Hi everyone, I was wondering if male common guppies and male fancy guppies can be kept together without any problems. I'm worried if I put a fancy guppy in the tank, it'll get bullied. I have a flag tail right now, who is doing fine with common guppies. If I get something with a bigger tail will there be fin nipping? The tank is a 20-gallon mini pond.

 

I depends on the individual fish, there is no way to be sure. Sorry. Guppies can be nippy. I might add tall plants, evan hang silk plants upside down floating from the surface to break up line of sight.

 

I have male fancy guppies and lyretail guppies and I’ve found it’s best to get a bigger group if you can. I read that smaller groups means they can pick one guppy to bully which leads to fun nipping. I had 3 and got fin nipping with the biggest guppy of the group. I now have 5 and there’s still chasing but no nipping that I’ve seen. Lots of plants helps. Gives hiding spaces for the guppies that are more mellow. I’ve got a lyretail that hides from the others when they chase him.

 

So should I just go with guppies that have smaller tails? Since that seems to be the safest option. There are broken terra cotta pots, stones, crevices, plants, a lotus and a pothos with lots of roots in the tank, but I would like for the fish to be as stress-free as possible.

I would do guppies with smaller tails or the lyretail guppies.
