There are many types of filters out there, Hang on Back (HOB), canister, sponge, internal...... It is recommended to have 10 times the gallons per hour (gph) of the size of your tank. There is a lot of discussion about different filters and what is best for what tanks in our filtration forum. I'm going to move this there for you to get more input!

P.S. Welcome to FishLore!

the gph is probly 150-200 an hour so that would make it not that muc maybe 4-6 max times the amount of water is in ur tank so essentially u cant hav much more than 30 inches of fish in ur tank but just b/c u hav a biggger filter doesnt mean u can hav more fish they pooop more so ur gona hav to do more water changes and probly monitor ur levels more not positiv on this ask gunnie or butterfly or something like that
