    As you know, I upgraded from a 55g to a 135.

Now neither of my canisters will work. They purge and stutter the water coming out.
One is a Sun Sun Grech 320, the other is an XP3.

Is it due to the change in depth?

    Any suggestions?

Are they manual or self priming?

XP3 primes, the other self primes.

Assuming the filters have primed correctly (no air locks)

How high are the filters trying to pump?
The XP3 has a HMax of 1.4 metres or 55"
Sun Sun I'm not sure :;dk

But if they're trying to pump too high, you may get spluttering. Or alternatively, if the feed line is kinked or the canister is not low enough (below the tank), and water is not filling the canister properly, that can cause a problem too.

I would double check the hoses myself, something doesnt seem right. I assume the filters are either just below or slightly higher than the bottom of the tank so height shouldnt be an issue.

Have you tried manually filling the canisters before attaching the heads? I fill it up enough that when I clamp the head on, some water spills out (I do it over a bucket lid to collect the spilled water).

I do pretty much the same. Works like a champ.

I never took the water out. Doesn't matter. I'm selling it off tomorrow anyways.

The Grech is back on my 40gb and working fine. I cleaned it and made sure all lines were clear of air pockets. Working good again.
