Filters for 30 gallon long

I have a 30 gallon long currently running a Aqueon 55/75 filter and I was curious if a under gravel filter would be beneficial or filter to much when added to my current filter. I have two medium fresh water angels in the tank as of right now.

What kind of substrate do you have? I am not huge fan of under gravel filters because they can be difficult to maintain/ not very effective since they can create dead zones in mid-large size tanks.

It currently has a large size gravel substrate in the tank. I have issues with brown algae as well thought extra flow could help

Bump, does anyone have more experience with under gravel filters?

Ideally (if I'm not mistaken) adding more flow, (like a powerhead) should minimize algae growth correct?

Undergravel filters are neat, but I always imagine fish waste sinking, then being flushed back to the top in an endless cycle. We visit a fish store that uses just UG filters, their tanks look very nice.

Back in the day, we used UG filters. The biggest issue was cleaning them, you can't without tearing up the whole tank. You can try backflushing, but if you're not careful they can get pretty nasty.
I would stick to a HOB or Canister and suction clean the bottom.
If your tank is new, you're gonna have the brown stuff to begin with.
