Filter Won't Turn On Or Make Noise

I have a Marineland penguin 200, that I unplugged to do a water change, when I plugged it back in it wouldn't start at all, no noise no nothing. I figure it was just old and broke. A couple days later I unplug my fluval aquaclear on my 10 gal to do water change and it did the same thing when I tried to plug it back in. I filled them both with water and all that. I do this every time I do a water change, I unplug the filter so that it doesn't run without water and fry itself. Anyone have this issue and find a solution, or does anyone know what's going on?

When you perform maintenance on the filters and you remove the impeller to clean the inside of the housing, is it dirty and gunked up?

have you tried taking it apart and cleaning the impeller and impeller housing?

Remove the impellor and clean out the chamber it goes in will usually resolve the issue with the AC. Not familiar with the Penguins but i'm sure cleaning the impellor on those will have the same effects.

Took everything apart on the aquaclear, nothing was clogged, put it back together and it worked fine. Weird lol. Thanks. I'll just have to find something for the penguin

My penguin biowheel does that too, if its not clogged up I just give mine a few shakes and it kicks back on...not sure why tho. Maybe the wire is messed up or somethin

AC's can be tempermental sometimes. I have an AC50 on my 20 long as well as a Fluval 206 and did a filter maint. on the 206 but when I went to add water back in with my Aqueon Water changer it shot towards the AC and for some reason it turned off so I pulled it all apart ( just cleaned the Ac 2 weeks ago ) pulled everything apart didn't clean anything except pulling the impellor and putting it back together and everything worked fine. Agree weird!!

Took apart the penguin and moved the impeller around and it got a lot looser, put it together, and it worked! Same thing with both
