The tank we currently have was given to us by our grandparents after they moved to a smaller building. We noticed that there was an area just below the filter that fish don't/can't read swim at.

To my surprise our filter is actually designed for a 110G (Aquaclear A-620) while our tank is a 40G.

Is there a con to having an oversized filter? Any pros? And should I switch out for a more suitable filter, if so which hob filter would be suitable?

Thank you!

A strong current can be too much for some fish, so that depends. But I’m running an FX4which is rated for up to a 250 gallon and I have a 46 bow. Community tank with Angels, tetras, mollies, platys, etc.
