Filter For 65 Gallon Tank

What filter should I get for a 65-gallon tank? I currently have a Fluval 70 Power Filter. Should I get a stronger power filter? Or what about a canister filter, two power filters, or both? I'm worried about canister filters leaking and bursting spilling water everywhere as I have heard of such stories. I already know I'm not getting a sump. Also, I need a filter that doesn't suck fish. My filter is a bit strong so I purchased a net that goes over the suction tube. Perhaps I could use the same thing for other filters. So, any suggestions?

Depending on what your going to stock your tank with you may be able to get by for a bit with another AC70 or possibly a 110. I would suggest putting a prefilter sponge on the intake if your worried about your stock being pulled into it. Canisters are the way I would go personally. their failure rate is pretty minimal imo

An Aqua Clear 110? Wow. I'm currently looking into Marineland Penguin Filters and especially the Marineland Bio-Wheel Penguin Aquarium Power Filter. It is for 75-gallon aquariums. What type of canister filter is best recommended?

I run an AC70 and a fluval 406 on my 55 along with a dual sponge filter... I’ve only used fluval canisters I like them. But I think my next canister may be an Eheim just to try it to see how I like them compared to fluval.. it’ll be going on a 29 when I do get one

Can I do water changes with the Fluval 406 external canister filter? And can I shut it off the hoses that bring water into the filter to open and clean it without dumping water everywhere?

I personally leave mine running when I do my WC's . But yes Fluval has an aqua stop valve that shuts the intake and return hoses off with one lever to avoid any major spillage when you need to do filter maintainence. But you will also want to unplug it to avoid the impeller from continuing to run. A quick google search will show you some good videos of the Fluval 06 series filters.

Yep, checked them out! Thanks so much for the quick and simple responses! I'll be getting the Fluval 406 canister!
