I'm looking for a filter for a 29 gallon turtle tank.
Here are my options:
Internal submersible filter:
(Fluval U3 filter. Do I need the U4? I understand the maintenance that I need to do about every week. But apparently it's pretty easy.)
Small external canister filter
]Zoo Med Turtle Clean Canister Turtle Filter, 30-gal
(This is the cheapest canister filter I could find. I wouldn't have to maintenance every weekend but double the price?)
I've thought about underground filtration but I don't really like it and I would have to have something else.
HOB filters don't work in the tank I want because the water line is only going to be filled 11 inches out of 18 3/4 inches. (The turtle species I want like shallow waters.
Musk turtles btw)
Sponge filters don't work either because the turtle might eat it.
I'm using sand as a substrate so please keep that in mind.
Turtles create a lot of waste so I'm stuck in a bad position
I'm kind of on a tight budget and would appreciate if the filter were under $75
Thank you!
