filter dilemma!

Today I noticed my filter pad thing is really dirty(brown) and if I order online I need to go to the US. I was wondering if you could clean it? I was planning to on using water from a WC to do it? (keep bacteria) is that ok?

2nd I noticed the filter itself is dirty too! How do I clean it while keeping bacteria in the pad?

I'm in a big dilemma! I feel I should know how to tackle this, but I've never had this happen!

 

Next time you do a water change, clean the media off in the syphoned water. Should do the trick.

 

wash the filter case in tap water and rinse the filter pad in used aquarium water.;D

 

I was told the filter "case" doesn't need to be cleaned (friend) .. is this true?

 

you can clean the impeller wall and impeller then(cleaning case might help with water flow)
