My tank is still in cycle and I don't know if I change the filter if it will hurt anything?

My filter says to change it every 3-4 weeks and it's almost all black now. It's micro cartridge filter with charcoal on the back of it.

DO NOT change the filter until you are done your cycle And even then you'll want to keep the mechanical media and toss the carbon.

ok they are are made together plus I have a bio wheel and it never changes. Does that make a difference?

But I won't change it. Am I right that any change could stop the cycle or slow it???

Thanks so much

Oh, if you have a biowheel you can just change cartridges, though I wouldn't until after the cycle is complete. Even then, I would cut the filter pad from the plastic and put that in the filter in front of the new cartridge for the first few times...until your colonies are strong.
