Fighting Mollies

Woodsman27

I saw something that was very strange this morning, two of my female black mollies were really going at it, spinning around in circles and chasing each others tails in a circle and afterwards they were out of breath and breathing very heavy but didnt break it up until the only male of the tank stepped in. I have a few questions.
1) is this normal
2) they are both pregnant, is this a fight for where to give birth in the tank or something
3) why did this happen?

Actually, you're in luck. I have a couple of pictures of some fry as of 3 days ago! Enjoy!

Female livebearers can get very aggressive with each other. You could try adding more plants to give them a break from each other. I've seen enough dried up females who jumped out of their tanks to get away from a mean one. You may need to separate them if you can't find a way to distract them.

Pregnant livebearers usually become a little aggressive when close to delivery, so this is completely normal. Good luck on raising your fry!
