Fiddler Crabs And Craw Fish

I don’t think it would hurt your fish though, for the record. I think the only thing that could hurt is getting it too salty for them or not salty enough for your crab.

Do you have a hydrometer?

Is marine salt ok for fresh water?
It is not, the only thing you have in there that would tolerate it (needs it) are the fiddler crabs. Everything else is fully freshwater and should only be near aquarium and epsom salt.

That’s why I added just enough salt to try and make the fiddler crabs happy I didn’t know they needed salt till after I bought them.

Sucks that the pet stores don’t tell you this!!!

Yes I definitely need to

But what I can say is since I added a little salt to the tank everyone in the tank seams more lively than ever is that a bad sign?

It’s been a week

I agree. I was pretty mad **** too. I’m sorry it happened to you too.

I think fiddlers need more salt than what you can comfortably put in a freshwater aquarium. From what I’ve seen the highest recommended is a tablespoon of salt per 5 gallons in freshwater. 1.004 specific gravity like fiddlers need is about 1 tablespoon of salt per 1 gallon. 5x the amount.

Also they do like to have buddies. A nice group would be 1 male and 2 females.

I’m new to crustaceans but I have a blue white and red.

I tried to look at your profile didn’t see any pics of your aquarium.

Oh hey clown loaches also like to live in groups. It’s a good thing you have such a large tank because they get pretty big!

I tried to look at your profile didn’t see any pics of your aquarium.

I don’t guess I’ve posted a pic. I use Tapatalk to post so I think I miss out on a few things from the regular site.

Are your crays all standard size?

I have a blue brazos dwarf in my 29.

Yes it is starting to grow. I used to raise larger fish like oscars and pacus. I just started to get into smaller fish and planted tanks.

I am new to this.

Cool! I love my planted tanks. Makes maintenance so much easier. My most needy tank is my brackish puffer tank because there have not been any plants thrive in there so far. So I have to change the water more often. Luckily it’s under stocked by a lot. 20 gal and it’s only got 7 bumblebee gobies and a half grown figure 8 puffer.

I love your crays they are beautiful!

I have found the larger the tank the less you have to do. I have owned everything from 10 gallon hexagon to 200 gallon tall show tanks. You should go with a larger tank.

Thank you !

Oh I plan to. I’m looking to buy a house and as soon as I do they are going into a corner 60 I already have. It just won’t fit in my current living space.

Well I’m bushed. It was nice talking to you and I hope we can get a conversation going again in the future. Goodnight!
