They can get to be a few inches. They can also get aggressive when the get older so their min tank size is 55G.

How big do rainbow sharks get? He's a cutie!

Rainbow sharks only get a few inches long and yes they can be aggressive but you can keep one in a minimum of 30g, but more than one and the bigger species need 55 gallon or more. I had to do A LOT of research before getting one.

Thank you both so much!!

I've always heard 55 but 30 might be true. Sharkbait is in one right now and we haven't had any problems, but I'm sure he's going to love having the extra space.

Sharkbait (I LOVE that name by the way) is really cute! I'm sure he'd love the extra space as well. Every few years I upgrade my tank for Jaws (pleco). If you don't mind me asking, how long have you had Sharkbait?

I got him when I started my tank probably close to two months ago. He was about as small as Fenton when I got him I think he's closing in on an inch now.

I was just wondering. I have a community tank, that's why I had to do so much research before I got Fenton, but more people say how they're aggressive towards other sharks and not to their other fish. Have you had any problems yet?

He's in a community tank as well. He's usually a total sweetheart. He's claimed my shipwreck ornament as his territory. The only problem I ever have is when my orange platys get to close to it he chases them away. He doesn't do it to any other fish, in fact he usually lets them into his ship. It's literally just the two small orange platys.

Okay, I have no problem with the chasing. My tetras have been doing that for years and I know they'd never hurt anyone. Fenton seems to be a total sweetheart as well. I built him a good size "forest" in the corner of my tank to make a territory. I decided to get him and just keep an eye out. Do you mind if I ask what other fish you have? I'm sorry I'm just curious.

I have a couple platys, some zebra danios, two gouramis and sharkbait. I also have two goldfish in there.
I know they're. OT temp compatible (now) which is the other reason for the move lol. When I got my tank the pet store told me they'd all be fine so I'm trying to fix that now.

What's fish do you have?

That's really neat. I did the same thing. When I started my tank I did it all wrong but still learning and fixed most of it. I have 4 tetras (white skirt but 3 are glofish white skirts) Pleco, rainbow shark, 3 gouramis, 2 panda mollies, 2 swordtails, 2 mickey platies, burnt platy, creamsicle balloon molly and guppies. Seems like a lot and it is but my mollies and guppies keep having babies and I don't know what to do with them. I'm going to have to upgrade again soon. I also have a snail tank and frog tank.

Wow that's cool! I'm trying to set up their 55G as quickly as I can to put the tropicals in there but it costs so much to start up a tank!

I've had the plagues for a while now but none of them have ever gotten pregnant. I think the orange ones are too young but I have males and females of other types and no babies at all!
