My brother has a female betta in a 6.5 gal tank, and yesterday she looked fine and perfectly healthy. This morning we noticed she is hanging out by the surface blowing bubbles occasionally and staying in one spot by the filter. Her tail is dropping and her belly looks somewhat bloated, but we don't know if that's whats causing it or not. I will post pictures later, and some updates, can anybody give some advice of to what's going on? (She is also only around 1-2 years old)

    What are the parameters?
Do any of her scales lift up from her body? I would think she has either been overfed, or has a disease of some sort. You said her tail was falling off? That could be fin rot as well.

Let me know with those parameters, and the photo.

Sorry, I meant to say her tail is drooping, not dropping. I don't have the parameters available, but I noticed his tank has a weird film over the water. I'm planning on doing a water change and to get some of the gunk out of the gravel. I will tell him to not feed her for a day or two the monitor how much he feeds her.

The film is caused by a lack of surface agitation.
