Ok, so clearly I am super scared and don't know what is happening with my betta fish. I have tried googling everything, watching every video on youtube I just can't figure out what this is.
She is a female betta fish (the only fish I have owned). I got her 7 months ago and she has been fine until now. I started to notice she was getting fatter near her abdomen maybe a week and a half ago. I thought maybe I overfed her, but this has not happened in the last 6 months, and I have made no changes to her eating. Anyways, I fasted her for 3 days, since I saw that was recommended. I started feeding her boiled peas as well afterwards to see if it was because of constipation that she was bloated. I also gave her daphnia as I've heard that it's also good for them.
So far, nothing has changed and now I feed her as little as possible. There is no change in the tank, she lives in a 10-gallon tank with a live plant, lots of places to hide, a large rock which she constantly is inside, and a leaf-hammock close to the heater where she rests at the top. I clean her tank 25% every week; the last time was on Sunday. I have slightly raised the tank's temp since then.
This mass is more enlarged on her right side, there is a little on her left side. She still behaves normally, comes out to greet me and flares at mirrors when I show her, does tricks. She seems unbothered by it, except she looks uncomfortable coming out of the rock and more often rests on the gravel nowadays. She is not pooping and a white spot is near her bottom, so maybe she is gravid. The last poop was a white stringy thing.
- I don't think it's dropsy because she does not have any scales sticking out or pinecony appearance. Not too sure about swim bladders syndrome but her left bladder seems fine. When I tried looking through her using my phone light, everything inside was yellow.
Pleaseee let me know what this is. I don't want to see her like this, and I keep googling what it could be. She is a beautiful girl and I want to do as much as I can to ease her pain and discomfort. If you have any idea what it is, or what I should/try next reply to this thread.
PS. I have posted a few pictures as well, in case that helps!
