We have a female beta. She is in a 2.5 gal tank with a snail. We are setting up a 10 gal. and would like to get her a friend or 2. Would a paradise fish be a good tank mate? Since they are both labyrinth fish and close to the same size.

Generally the more a fish looks like a betta, the more the betta will hate it and try desparately to attack it.

This applies even if the betta is female.

Bettas should never be put together with any labyrinth fish. They will fight! A good tankmate for her would be a couple of otos or cories. They will also help keep the tank clean of algae. Females can be very aggressive (at least mine are) and I wouldn't trust them with any fish that swims at the same level as them. Otos and cories stay near the bottom and are no threat to her.
