Fellow Fish Lovers HELP

Hello my fellow fish lovers I recently started an intrest in jack dempseys and I am having troubles making sure if I have a pair or I have two of the same sex I also have a pair of black jack dempseys I would love knowing if there male or female

IMO they both look like males.

 

I'm with Leo. They both look male. Can you take a more clear picture of the one you think is a female? Like in the face? You can typically sex your JD's by the definition of their markings going towards their mouth. Males don't tend to have any, females to to have them going all the way down to their mouths. I always thought mine was male until I learned more about the markings because I was always told to sex by the fin shapes. That apparently isn't necessarily the only or best way.




As an example, this is my JD, who I've determined is a female.

Well I have a 8 inch male jack dempsey ill trade for a female of atleast 5 inches

 

Your male is definitely a male. Not sure about the female, can you post a side-on pic?
