Feeling very stupid and venting!

Ok so I did something stupid this morning. I woke up, or rather my wife woke up and said, "is your tank supposed to be all cloudy like that?" So I jumped up to have a look, all my lovely new GBR juveniles were gasping at the top of the tank. In blind panic I fished them out and put then back in the tank they had been in yesterday which was still running
Ok so problem solved you might think... Well no. I was half asleep during this whole process, didn't remember that I medicated the tank last night that's why it was cloudy, although the cycle is broken that's why the fish were gasping, but worst of all the tank they were in yesterday had been turned right dow. To 23 degrees (Celsius) so they've suffered a 5 degree temperature drop having been put in there!
The lesson... Stop and think before you mess with your tank

Stop and think before doing anything would also be good advice. I dashed out to a meeting last night which has always been on a Tuesday these last ten years. Nobody was there. Of course its on a Wed this time. Luckily no fish were harmed. Hope yours will be OK.

Thank fully they seem to be ok, or at least the 5 that I can see, but I have no idea how long it would take for temperature shock to kill

As has been said, you’re not the first to make a mistake & most certainly won’t be the last.
I don’t think the temperature drop will hurt them much, I often drop the temperature that much when doing water changes to encourage cory spawning.
A sudden increase in temperature may have been more of an issue as they don’t handle raises as well as they do drops.
Just keep an eye on them for a while, hope they‘re ok :)

Thanks! They do all seem fine to be honest so I'm very happy it's been 4 hours now

Medication can also decrease oxygen volume in the water, it’s normally advised to have a oxygen pump/stone going during that period :).
