Feeding fruit to fish

I've pondered this question for while now and I've never attempted it, but has anybody ever attempted to feed fruit to fish? I was thinking something lower on the acidic side, like apples, nothing citrus.

I tried bananas and although my fish liked it, it made a huge mess! So for us, no more fruit. Too soft.

what ever you use ,don't use anything with seeds in them ,I don't think fish can digest seeds .ive tried water mellon a couple times ,but they like veggys for me anyhow.they dint to much like the melon either .

I did a side by side test mellon and squash ,they ate more veggy then fruit .

I think I'll try sliced apples. Low on acid, not messy like bananas, and no seeds.

I might try that next as well. Let me know how your fish like them

Confirmed. My other fish don't seem too interested, but my ancistrus is all over it. It'll serve two purposes... feed my ancistrus, and help lower the pH naturally.

mine attacked it and then spit it out and swam away. The shrimp under the cloud of spit was happy though cause it was something different

My neighbor has a giant gourami, a red belied pacu & 6 silver dollars in a 500 gallon tank. I watch them eat all sorts of fruits all the time, sliced cucumber, carrots, potato, tomato and apples to name a few.
My Oscar and BPs just treat them as rocks, Ahhh this rocks smells nice but that's it.

I dropped some Malaysian trumpet snails in and one of the barbs had it in his mouth, swimming as fast as he can with the other 6 barbs chasing him! He finally figured out it wasn't edible and spit it out - then the rest of them tried it

Feed fruit sparingly, as the high sugar content can cause bacterial blooms.

Last time I tried it, some fish went after it, most ignored it.
