Feeding Frequency

I am sure this has been asked many times before, but what is everyone's sense on the frequency of feeding your fish? I'm reading that some do it as often as 2 times per day and other are saying you only need to do it 1 to 2 times per week?

I have a 36 gallon, lightly stocked tank (2 guppies and 2 platys) right now but looking to increase my stock.

I feed mine once a day, in the AM. I do not feed on Sunday, giving their little intestines a break.

Hello Nit...

I feed a variety of flakes, freeze dried and some pellets and wafers. I feed every day of the week except one. That's when I rest the fishes digestive systems and make them forage for any leftovers. I think this keeps the tank a bit cleaner between water changes.

Depends on the age of the fish. For my adult fish I feed once a day, for my fry I'll feed them a few times a day. Every now and then I skip a day or two with the adult fish, usually just before a water change.

My fish are young...it's a fairly new tank...newly cycled so I'm just starting out and the fish I have in there are young.

Once a day should be plenty for most fish. If they are fry rather than juveniles then more feedings are needed.

I used to feed them twice a day, but that seemed to be too much for my adult fish. I recently implemented a Sunday fast, and it's resulted in cleaner water. Hoping some of my massive neon tetras lose some weight!
